Largest Scottish Local Authority Reveals Significant Savings for Over 400 Citizens

Capita Software Services today announced that significant savings have been achieved for the citizens of Glasgow following the go-live of the Council's new Council Tax and Benefits software. Glasgow City Council states that in just two weeks Capita's software helped check that its 600,000 residents were receiving the council tax benefits they were entitled to. As a result, over £300,000 in council tax benefit was awarded to over 400 citizens.

Janice Timoney, programme Manager of Glasgow City Council, commented: "We are constantly looking to improve our performance in Council Tax collection rates and serve our citizens fairly by ensuring they receive the benefits they are entitled to. Capita Software Services has demonstrated best value as well as expertise and reliability in the delivery of a high quality Council Tax and Benefits solution. The benefits of a faster and more efficient process are already being passed onto the citizen".

The Council's contract with Capita Software Services will run over a five-year period. Capita Software Services has supplied the council with its Academy Council Tax and Benefits applications as well as its mobile computing and citizen self-service modules. As part of the agreement, Capita has provided full implementation services to Glasgow City Council including provision of project management, business consultancy, training, application interfaces and historical data conversion from the current in-house systems.

This has undoubtedly been achieved on both counts and demonstrates that our technology is well suited to the diverse needs of local authorities of any size."
