Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has selected Capita Software Services' internet and telephony payments system to give residents a greater choice of payment options for council services. The system, which is now live, also incorporates a multi-lingual module to cater for more than 16,000 local citizens who speak, read and write Welsh.
"Our newly extended range of payment options will allow our residents to make payments at their convenience via a whole range of methods," commented Cllr Peter Rees. "Having already worked with Capita Software Services to implement our internal payment management system, we are confident that the new payment methods will also allow the Council to deliver a high level of service more cost effectively."
By modernising the council's existing payment system to include internet and touch tone methods, via AXIS Internet Payments and AXIS Touch Tone '24 Hour Managed Services', residents have the freedom to make payments for council services such as council tax, business rates and rents 24/7.
David Lockie, Associate Director of Capita Software Services, said: "The contract with Neath Port Talbot follows on from the successful implementations of multi-lingual Welsh payment systems for Blaenau Gwent, Ceredigion and Gwynedd. Our experience has allowed us to integrate the new payments process while maintaining the look and feel of the Council's website. It's essential that software companies get the technology right but they also have a responsibility to tailor it to address specific needs."
