Bracknell Forest Borough Council goes live with AXIS Speech Recognition

Capita Software Services is proud to announce that Bracknell Forest Borough Council has gone live with the initial phase of AXIS Speech Recognition and is the first user of this new addition to the AXIS product suite.
AXIS Speech Recognition allows councils to deliver a range of services to customers including making payments, call routing to the most appropriate contact and providing answers to frequently asked questions. The caller is able to navigate quickly and easily through the options using their own voice.
The contract with Bracknell was awarded in December 2006 and since that time, council staff have worked closely with Capita in order to ensure a smooth implementation in line with demanding timescales.
Keith Woodman, Head of Customer Services at Bracknell Forest Borough Council said: 'As one of the first users of AXIS Internet Payments, Bracknell Forest Borough Council was keen to make key services available to customers all day every day. With the introduction of AXIS Speech Recognition, we can now offer a complementary service to those customers who do not have web access, in a form which we are confident will prove to be both convenient and easy to use'.
The initial phase allows customers to make Council Tax payments by telephone using the customer's own voice. The next phase will extend the facility to include payment of Car Parking Penalty Charge Notices.
The first payments have been processed and the council are actively promoting the service to customers. The service will carry a prominent reference on the annual bills that are currently being issued, which the council is confident will lead to a high level of take up by customers. It is expected that customers will find it to be a highly convenient means of paying once the new financial year payments fall due.
