Warrington Borough Council staff to go mobile
Published: 03/10/2006
Capita Mobile Solutions, a Capita Software Services business, today announced that it has won a contract to supply Warrington Borough Council's revenues and benefits department with a mobile working solution. The contract, worth £32,000, is for the provision of the Streetwise revenues and benefits modules, and is planned to go live in autumn 2006. This is partly funded for the Council by the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) Performance Standards fund.
The Streetwise solution includes the provision of a benefit verification framework and interventions module, as well as Council Tax and NDR inspections modules. This will provide Warrington Borough Council's remote staff with an easy-to-use device to update information, such as personal details and payments, electronically when on site - for example at a citizen's home. The core 'back office' revenues & benefits management systems will be seamlessly updated over a secure, wireless connection, removing the need for the remote worker to return to the office. This will enable the Council to increase the number of visits and ensure the timeliness of information, resulting in an increasingly efficient service delivery which will benefit both employees and citizens of Warrington Borough Council.
Phil Kennedy, Head of Revenues and Benefits at Warrington Borough Council, said: "We are working in close partnership with Capita Mobile Solutions to implement this innovative approach to gathering customer information. This will be the first fully mobile initiative to be in operation within the Council and we anticipate it will deliver real improvements for all".
Stephanie Coward, Business Manager at Capita Mobile Solutions, said: "We are delighted to be implementing our Streetwise solution at Warrington. This contract highlights the success of the Capita Mobile Solutions product suite and we look forward to enhancing service delivery to the benefit of the Council as well as the local citizens."
Warrington Borough Council employees will receive full system training and support from a technological as well as a business process perspective.
