Capita Software Services selected to help housing department deliver more efficient and faster housing service

Capita Software Services, a leading supplier of integrated housing management systems, today announced that Taunton Deane Borough Council has selected its Academy Housing suite of software. The suite, will streamline the Council's existing housing service and improve access to information and accountability to residents. The suite also includes the Academy Streetwise Mobile solution which will allow Council employees to carry out housing inspections and report back in real-time via a handheld device.
Previously, housing officers were required to carry reams of paperwork, resulting in a constant churn of paper while the information gathered was entered by hand. Processes were then duplicated upon return to the office as the information was manually entered into a number of back office systems.
David Kent, Housing Project Manager at Taunton Deane Borough Council, commented, "As a Council with an 'excellent' rating, we continually review our services in order to improve quality and process efficiency. With the new Academy software and handheld technology our housing officers will be able to document property inspections, record defects and raise repair orders whilst on site. We look forward to working with Capita Software Services and delivering greater benefits to the citizen."
Due to go live in Spring 2007, the Council will take this opportunity to review its entire housing system and processes. The integrated solution incorporates a new Academy Electronic Document Management (EDM) solution and document imaging module enabling the scanning and management of all documents such as correspondence regarding repairs. The information can then be instantly accessed by Housing Officers anytime, anywhere via intranets, extranets and the web. Combined with the new mobile solution, this will allow the Council's internal processes to become more streamlined and give them ability to share and process documents between various divisions and therefore respond to residents in a more efficient manner.
Roger Birkinshaw, Director of Housing at Capita Software Services, commented, "Councils such as Taunton Deane are always looking to improve operational efficiency and service delivery to residents. We are delighted that the Council has decided to implement the complete Academy Housing Solution as it means that every process from the recording of property visits to the completion of repairs can be reviewed and enhanced to help build upon their excellent rating."
