Newport City Council goes live with AXIS Payment Management
Published: 08/09/2006
Capita Software Services is pleased to announce that Newport City Council has gone live with it's first implementation phase of the AXIS Payment Management product suite. The contract was awarded in September 2005 after the council was impressed with the quality and depth of functionality that the AXIS software offered.
As part of the agreement, the solution includes the provision of AXIS Income Management, AXIS Counter Receipting with Chip and PIN functionality, AXIS Internet Payments, AXIS Paye.net, AXIS eReturns, AXIS Bank Reconciliation and portals to third-party applications. The contract is a perpetual licence and provides the authority with best of breed solutions offering citizens the ability to make payments in a way that best suits them, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Later this year Newport will commence the second phase of implementation as they roll out MOTO (Mail Order Telephone Order) to its contact centre, enabling the council to take 'customer not present' transactions via the Internet.
Prior to the AXIS product suite, Newport City Council was using the legacy CR2000 cash receipting system. The council was yet to implement an internet payments solution and it also needed to provide payment via an attended telephone service. In addition, CR2000 didn't support Chip & PIN - key functionality the council needed to compliment their existing counter service.
Council staff worked closely with Capita's project management team to ensure a smooth transition and to successfully reach key milestones. The managed services element was also handled by Capita Software Services, enabling council staff to concentrate on the onsite modules.
David Lockie, Director AXIS Payment Management commented: "As the supplier of Newport's counter based payment collection service, we are pleased to be in the position of helping Newport enhance their service with the introduction of the AXIS Counter Receipting and Chip & PIN modules. In addition, Capita has provided Newport with the AXIS modules required to realise a truly corporate payment processing solution."
Steve Hendon, Revenues Manager at Newport City Council commented: "Working in partnership with Capita Software Services has ensured a successful and structured implementation which continues to deliver the modules proposed within the successful tender submission. They are committed in their approach and always offer sound advice and guidance. Due to the success of the modules which have already gone live, we are looking forward to the end of this year when we will be up and running with the full product suite."
