Going Mobile Pays Off for Vale Royal Borough Council

Council saves two admin days per week with new mobile solution

Capita Mobile Solutions, a Capita Software Services business, today announced that the Streetwise mobile solution it implemented at Vale Royal Borough Council has already delivered dramatic benefits after just a few weeks in operation.

The Council installed the Streetwise Academy revenues and benefits modules within its revenues and benefits department in September, to create a more effective service for citizens and valuable time savings for council staff. After only four weeks of operation, Vale Royal has experienced an increase of 40 per cent in the number of visits being made to citizens' homes per day, while the removal of time-consuming administration and paperwork has helped save two admin days per week.

Vale Royal Borough Council's remote staff are equipped with a tablet PC from which they update information, such as changes to personal details, electronically when on site at a citizen's home. The core 'back office' revenues & benefits management systems is seamlessly updated over a secure, wireless connection, removing the need for the remote worker to return to the office.

The Council also implemented the Council Tax Inspection module, which links the council tax database back at the office to the tablet PC carried by the inspections officer. This allows off-site access to addresses, previous inspection notes and completion notice details.
