Broadland and West Dorset District Councils select Capita Software Services housing system

Published: 09/10/2006

Capita Software Services, leading supplier of integrated housing management systems, today announced that Broadland District Council and West Dorset District Council have both selected its Academy housing suite of software. The combined contracts, valued in excess of £200,000, will streamline the Councils' existing housing service and improve accessibility to information and accountability to residents.

"It's imperative that Council's throughout the UK constantly review their housing processes to ensure an improved service to residents but also to adhere to statutory requirements, commented John Reeve, Head of Revenues at Broadland District Council. "A housing division needs an integrated housing system that provides slick access to customer information with certain details being shared across other services and departments to avoid unnecessary duplication. Capita's housing software system will allow Broadland greater access to accurate and timely information. This will enable us to make informed decisions faster and provide residents with improved services.

The integrated Academy strategic housing system meets the legislative need in the areas of housing options and homelessness. It also addresses common waiting lists and choice based lettings. For example, the automatic production of statutory reports, BVPI's and the P1E means Council employees can spend more time on customer facing activities rather than on non-productive administration. In addition, a contact management feature allows for all customer and third party contact with the department to be recorded, along with the capability to support full case management.

Geoff Joy, Head of Housing at West Dorset District Council, commented, "Operational efficiency and delivering a high quality housing service to West Dorset residents is a top priority. During the procurement process, Capita showed a greater understanding of our business ethos and demonstrated that their software would be suitable to our present and our future requirements."

The latest Council to go-live with Capita's Academy Housing system is Maidstone Borough Council. The Council already used Academy Revenues and Benefits thus adding Academy Housing into this proven infrastructure reduced the risks and costs and gave the two sections a shared service platform. The implementation phase and transfer of all customer details took only four months.
