SOCIAL HOUSING SOFTWARE ADAPTED TO ADDRESS NEW GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES AND ONGOING EFFICIENCY DRIVE

Capita Software Services today announced a number of new features to its Academy housing software suite in order to address recent ODPM initiatives, such as NROSH, and to enable customers to conform to the Government's efficiency drive.

The new software suite includes:

• A new embedded workflow engine, 'Work Tray', which enables full process management. Previously, users had to look in each module of the system to search for work assigned to them but, as a result, this new feature removes any unnecessary duplication. It ensures that customer requests are dealt with on time by improving management of outstanding work and the passing of work between employees.
• The inclusion of a Geographical Information System allows users to view information such as housing stock across all regions. This is particularly effective as stock owned by registered landlords in one region may actually be located in another. As a result policymakers will be able to look at property in a region and ascertain whether there is a real housing crisis.

Deborah White, Housing Services Director of Wandle Housing Association, commented, "In order to address recent changes in the housing industry and remain competitive software must be continually developed. We see workflow as an important tool in our efforts to drive down arrears, by reducing the workload on routine administrative tasks that distract Income staff from focussing on actual collection. This feature increases consistency in dealing with cases and enabling work to be prioritised effectively for maximum outcomes."

Roger Birkinshaw, Director of Housing at Capita Software Services, said: "As part of our software review, we surveyed a number of our customers and they confirmed that they have plans to invest in workflow management and EDM. CRM was also high on the agenda and will be addressed in our next software release due out this winter. We are extremely pleased with the increased functionality that our new software features present as they address all of our customers requirements helping to improve customer service and streamline the business process."

NROSH ODPM definition: National Register of Social Housing - will be a property database containing a record of each individual unit of social housing in England. It will provide neighbourhood level information for the whole country which will be accessible by central, regional and local governments, registered social landlords and other interested parties, and will reduce the burden of reporting on housing providers.
