Our History

Capita Software Services, formerly Academy Information Systems, was established in 1994 by the acquisition of West Wiltshire Software Ltd. From inception, the aim was to create excellence in software product development with a focus on the markets of government, and related bodies. Consequently, the company has experienced sustained growth through a combination of organic growth and acquisition including:

	Managed Services throughput continues to grow and five millionth payment is taken
	Capita Software Services gains re-accreditation to the e-Government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF).
	Capita invests in excess of £1million in the development of the Academy Housing system to ensure the product leads the market for RSLs, Local Authority Housing Departments and Councils transferring their stock to Housing Associations or ALMOs
	Academy Mobile Team grows to form independent Mobile division - Mobile Solutions and implements Revenues and Benefits mobile solutions
2005	Academy Mobile Team created within Academy Housing

	100th Customer goes Live with AXIS Counter Receipting
	Additional Fraud Protection (Card Security Code / Address Verification System) introduced
	Two million payments processed through AXIS Managed Services since launch in 2001
	First ever Council Tax revaluation in Wales successfully implemented
	Development of Valuebill National Project schemas commenced and BS7666 addresses adopted in Academy Revenues
	Academy BIDs software goes live (only solution in the UK available)
2004	Desktop Summary launched providing new features supporting CRM, One-Stop Shop and Call Centre operations. Local Housing Allowance (Pathfinder) module for Benefits. Document Templating module re-engineered. Discount changes for Council Tax. Education Benefits module redevelopment for Benefits.
	Asbestos Management Module launched for Academy Housing
	Browser-based payment option - by phone or face-to-face using AXIS Paye.net

1995	Academy acquires Sherwood's Housing software resulting in the rebranding of the housing application as Academy Housing

1993	Mainframe VME Council Tax product released
